Good Neighbor Day is September 1st, 2010

Residents of Fairfield County will have the unique opportunity to meet each other and develop new friendships when Fruits & Flowers gives away over 6,000 roses in bunches of 12, absolutely FREE to anyone who visits the shop, while supplies last. However there is only one catch we ask that anyone who picks up a dozen keeps one of the roses for themselves and give the others away to 11 different people- spreading Goodwill and Friendship in the community.
Please bring a non perishable food item or toiletry to support The Bridgeport Rescue Mission.

Raffle will be held with proceeds to help support the
Bridgeport Rescue Mission

Good Neighbor Day

Good Neighbor Day was started in 1994 by FTD Member Brook Jacobs, owner of Greenbrook Flowers in Jackson, MS.

The concept of the holiday is simple: florists give away a bouquet of flowers to people in their community encouraging each recipient to keep one for them and hand the others away to make new friends and share kindness to strangers.

For this special day we teamed up with the Bridgeport Rescue Mission. The Bridgeport Rescue Mission demonstrates the love of God to hungry, homeless and addicted people throughout Fairfield County, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. They fight poverty from the inside out by providing a place of hope and dignity through a yearlong educational program, biblical counseling and case management. They are funded by compassionate individuals, churches, businesses & organization

We wanted the residents of Bridgeport to feel the love that flowers can bring. Thru the generosity of everyone who came we were able to collect over $800.00 and over 100 bags of food for the mission. We gave away over 8,000 roses to everyone who came to our special event that day.

We were very pleased to have this day recognized by the City Council and the City of Bridgeport Naming September 9, 2009 Good Neighbor Day in the City of Bridgeport with a Special Proclamation. We are continuing to collect non perishable foods for the Bridgeport Rescue Mission throughout the Holiday Season. Please stop by with your donation and we will give you a free gift.
